题目：Reconstructing the Great Recession

 

摘要：This paper evaluates the role of the construction sector in accounting for the performance of the U.S. economy before, during and after the Great Recession. We use input-output analysis to evaluate its linkages with the rest of the economy and measure the transmission of its demand shocks to the overall economy. Such effects are quantified by means of a dynamic multi-sector model parameterized to reproduce the boom-bust dynamics of employment in construction during 2000-2013. The model suggests that the interlinkages account for a large share of the actual changes in aggregate employment and gross domestic product during the previous expansion, the recession and the subsequent recovery.

 

主讲人简介：Michele Boldrin，1982年毕业于威尼斯大学，后赴美留学于1987年获得罗切斯特大学经济学博士学位，随后至2006年间先后任教于UCLA、西北大学、明尼苏达大学等著名学府，并曾在芝加哥大学、宾夕法尼亚大学、西班牙卡洛斯三世大学等多所大学做访问学者，2006年至今为华盛顿大学教授。研究领域集中动态一般均衡模型的发展和应用，主要包括商业周期、资产定价、经济增长及人口变化、创新和知识产权、公共政策及福利制度等。现为 Review of Economic Dynamics 主编、Econometrica 副主编及 Macroeconomic Dynamics书评编辑,并自2000年起成为美国 Econometric Society 成员。
