摘要：This study investigates the impact of media reports on breastfeeding and children's development in China. Leveraging a difference-in-differences (DID) framework constructed from regionally heterogeneous media reports on the infant formula incident in China, we find that babies born in areas with more reported incidents breastfed longer and had higher cognitive abilities as teenagers. Regions with more reports experienced larger declines in infant milk powder prices, lower household milk powder consumption, and higher regional milk powder imports, reflecting mothers' risk-averse responses.
