Introduction:

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), established in 1966, is a specialized United Nations Agency, devoted to helping developing countries pursue sustainable industrial development. It provides tailor-made solutions to today''s industrial problems by offering a package of integrated services addressing three key concerns: competitive economy, sound environment, and productive employment (3Es) at the institutional policy and enterprise levels.

UNIDO Investment & Technology Promotion Office China (UNIDO ITPO-China) is a UNIDO field operational office with diplomatic status. It provides a wide range of professional services that facilitate China''s access to investment resources, technology and know-how, marketing and managerial skills as well as inward and outward investment and technology transfer. In addition to providing research, consultation and assistance to ease the process of internationalization of local sectors and enterprises, the Office also plays many other roles, acting as a consultant to the formulation of government policy and decision making, a facilitator enabling access to domestic and international resources, a supporter in the implementation of development projects and an organizer of forums and cooperation platforms covering a broad range of fields. Currently UNIDO ITPO-China has several on-going programs in China. The mission of Industrial Clusters Development & Capital Operation Program is to employ the latest economic development models for municipal government in developing countries. The mission of Clean Production & Capital Operation program is to assist in industrial value chain building through strategic partnership on clean technology projects for leading enterprises that devote to the area of clean technology and renewable energy.

Ms. Jue Sun   

 

Ms. Jue Sun is the Senior Program Officer of United Nations Industrial Development Organization-Investment and Technology Promotion Office-China (UNIDO-ITPO-China). She acts as the Team Leader of the Cleantech and Renewable Energy Program. Her experience with UNIDO-ITPO-China covers Cleantech and renewable energy direct investment promotion, technical assistance for carbon finance projects, environmentally sound industrial clusters development, international partnership establishment and the analysis of cleantech industries. As Senior Program Officer, she also supports the Program Director''s business development and Program framework design.

 

Before joining UNIDO-ITPO-China, Ms. Sun served in the Carbon Finance Unit at the World Bank Headquarter office in Washington D.C., USA. Her other professional experience includes east Asia regional industry analysis in the Development Economics division of the World Bank, (currently led by the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President, Dr. Justin Yifu Lin) and financial analysis in the Foreign Investment Advisory Services (Trust Fund) of the International Finance Corporation. Ms. Sun earned her Master of Science in Economics and Master of Public Policy and Administration from Baylor University in Texas, USA, and her Bachelor of Arts in International Journalism from Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

 

Job Opportunities and Requirement:

l           Job Opening: Summer Intern (other job opportunities may be available)

l           Master Degree in Finance, Economics, Management, Corporate Strategy, Environment, Science, Engineering or a related specialized fields

l           Minimum 2 years working experience in related fields

l           Strong analytical and conceptual skills covering the areas of economics, finance, industry analysis, investment, etc

l           Fluency in both English and Chinese is essential

l           Starting Date: 06/01/2009

l           Duration of internship is 3 months, renewed for another 3 months based on the evaluation of performance, 5 work days per week.
