Beijing Summer School on Socioeconomic Inequality 2013

The China Center for Economic Research (CCER) of Peking University and the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity (HCEO) Global Working Group are pleased to partner and delighted to announce the first Beijing Summer School on Socioeconomic Inequality which will be held from June 17 to June 23, 2013. Professors Steven Durlauf (University of Wisconsin and HCEO) and YaohuiZhao (CCER) will serve as co-directors of the Summer School.
This summer school is designed to provide state-of-the-art overviews of different aspects of the study of inequality with a specific focus on China. Our intention is to provide an intensive one-week experience that teaches the tools needed to study inequality as well as communicates a sense of the research frontier in understanding inequality. We will bring together scholars who specialize in China as well as general methodologists in order to promote interactions and potential collaborations.
June 17, the first day of the Summer School, will feature a Conference on Inequality and China, to be held at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing. James Heckman (University of Chicago and HCEO) is working with leading scholars in China to plan the program. Yang Yao (CCER) will be the lunchtime plenary speaker and will provide an overview of "The Chinese Growth Miracle". The June 18-23 sessions will be held at CCER.
