POSITION: Policy and Communications Officer/Assistant

TYPE:  Full Time

LOCATION:  Beijing

RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Deputy Director and Chief Officer

RESPONSIBLE FOR:                    

1. Planning and managing the outreach activities of the academic and think tank events;
2. Providing administrative supports to think tank, which includes,Project approval and market research Policy dialogue Composing news messages Booking the airline, vaccine and insurance Assisting with events
3. Utilizing communication platforms and channels to promote New Structural Economics.

PURPOSE OF THE POST: The Center for New Structural Economics (CNSE) needs a proactive, meticulous and highly-organized Policy and Communications Officer/Assistant based in Beijing, with two primary responsibilities: (1) plan and undertake the outreach activities of the academic and think tank events and strengthen the network of stakeholders; and (2) to provide and implement an effective and comprehensive communications strategy of the CNSE. A highly motivated individual with substantial experience of the communications sector, policy and research, with excellent writing and interpersonal skills, you will take the lead in ensuring high quality policy, communications and research support for the work.

MAIN DUTIES

1. The Policy and Communications Officer will play a key role in helping us to further unlock the potential and impact of these areas of our work. They will:Plan and manage the outreach activities of the academic and think tank events, promote academic and policy outputs and strengthen the network of key stakeholders; Utilize communication platforms and channels to promote New Structural Economics and maximize the impacts of our research;

2. The Policy and Communications Assistant will assist the Policy and Communication Officer to fulfill the duties.

ESSENTIAL

The Policy and Communications Officer:

Graduated with relevant professional qualifications, with at least one year working experience. Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written products in English. Track record of providing high quality support for communications strategies. Ability to speak one of the working languages (especially French) of the UN in addition to English. Ability to travel to developing countries, flexible in work schedule. Ability to take the initiative and play a leading role in managing and organizing events, and high level meetings. Ability to be a program lead/manager in defined areas. Experience of working to tight deadlines and under pressure. High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and website management Experience of working with or within international organizations.

The Policy and Communications Assistant:

Graduated with relevant professional qualifications, with at least one year working experience. (Excellent fresh graduates could be considered also.) Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written products in English. Experience of working to tight deadlines and under pressure. High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and website management. Ability to speak one of the working languages (especially French) of the UN in addition to English; Ability to travel to developing countries, flexible in work schedule.
