Yin Ruiyu

Yin Ruiyu is an expert in metallurgical engineering. He is now a member of the Governing Board of CAE, honorary president of the Chinese Society for Metals and honorary president of Central Iron & Steel Research Institute. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology Beijing in 1957 and became one of first elected members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). He served as Chief Engineer and Deputy General-manager of Tangshan Iron and Steel Company, Chief Engineer and Vice Minister of the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, Vice President of the Chinese Society for Metals, President of Central Iron and Steel Research Institute, Director of Chemistry, Metallurgy and Materials Division of CAE, and Director of Engineering Management Division of CAE.
Yin Ruiyu studied the development strategy for metallurgical science and technology as well as the steel industry. In particular, he conducted much research into engineering technologies and theories relating to the advancement of China’s steel technology and its orderly implementation in the 1990s. He made breakthroughs in key metallurgy technologies used across China such as continuous casting, PCI in blast furnaces, continuous rolling of bars and wire rods and more.
Established in 1994, the Chinese Academy of Engineering is a national organization composed of elected members with the highest honour in the community of engineering and technological sciences of the nation, initiating and conducting strategic study and providing consultancy for decision-making for the nation’s key issues of engineering and technology.
